Mr. Jeffrey Guenzel is the Chief Executive Officer of the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning (ICDL). Before joining ICDL, Mr. Guenzel held key leadership positions in government and the private sector. Mr. Guenzel has served as the executive director of two very successful not-for-profits and served as the Director of the Division of Child Behavioral Health for the State of New Jersey and as the Deputy Commissioner for the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. Mr. Guenzel is a professional counselor that has dedicated his career to serving children and families.
ICDL is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to redefining and promoting each child’s development to their fullest potential. Through the genius and leadership of Dr. Stanley Greenspan, ICDL has led the interdisciplinary movement to implement a revolutionary approach to understanding and improving a child’s development. The DIR® model and the DIRFloortime® intervention were both developed at ICDL. Mr. Guenzel leads the continued effort of ICDL to bring DIR® based approaches to children and families around the world.
As a Professional Counselor, Mr. Guenzel has specialized in treating children. He has worked as a clinician at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey as well as in private practice and other public clinic settings. Mr. Guenzel earned his B.A. degree in psychology and his M.A. degree in Counseling from Montclair State University.
Mr. Guenzel has been invited to speak and train professionals throughout the United States and in many countries around the world.
