Health and Wellness

There is nothing more important to the growth and development of a child than their overall health and wellness. At Shrub Oak, we focus on integrating positive life habits into everyday life.

On campus, we have expansive spaces for our students to utilize, including our gym, workout room, pool, multifunctional studio spaces, wooded trails, and fields. Beyond our campus, the surrounding area provides a breadth of opportunities for nature walks, hiking, kayaking, and so much more to promote healthy physical activity. Our dining team provides healthy and nutritionally balanced options to meet all students’ needs.

Athletics and Fitness

We offer a wide variety of options for physical activity. From working with the plants and animals on the farm to nature walks on the trails in the woods, to yoga, swimming, and snowshoeing around campus on a snow day, there are always be fun and exciting physical activities. The athletics program offers a diverse range of opportunities for all students.

Competition can be a big motivator for students to become more involved with campus activities and to strive to reach personal goals. We provide opportunities for students to compete for their own personal best goals, against other students, and others in the greater community in a safe environment. This level of healthy competition fosters a greater sense of self and enhances the overall health and well-being of the student.

Nutritionally Balanced Diet

Dining Hall Rendering

The facility is arranged for students and staff to eat together in a family style setting. This promotes healthy behaviors through staff teaching and role-modeling positive dining habits, and mimics the family meal set-up of the home. Our chefs and dining staff provide the best and most nutritional options for students, including accommodating dietary restrictions. The chefs work hand in hand with our nutritionist and campus physician to ensure that the menu is both nutritionally balanced and delicious. Our dining program also offers opportunities for students to learn about food preparation and cooking skills, and to intern with the dining team. In addition to the main dining hall, we offer a 24-hour healthy snack shop in the Hub for students to grab a snack outside of mealtimes.
