We are a school like no other
Shrub Oak is a school where each student is respected as an individual and surrounded by experts who care and work to bring out each student’s greatest strengths. Our curriculum brings together the most advanced and successful evidence-based clinical and academic approaches in ASD education to prepare our students for independent adult life and employment. Offering two distinct educational programs, with both day and boarding options, Shrub Oak truly is a school like no other.
The Core Program is designed to provide a full and rich educational program for all of our students whether they are pursuing a high school diploma and postsecondary education, or a Skills and Achievement Credential leading to meaningful employment and independent living. Our highly qualified team of teachers and clinicians utilize a relationship-based and strength-based approach in a transdiciplinary model to guide out students toward a purposeful, self-sustaining future. Through structured authentic social-interaction opportunities, students make meaningful lifelong friendships.
The Founders Program is designed to meet the educational, social, emotional, and transition needs of students who are dually diagnosed with autism and intellectual disability. Students receive a full complement of therapeutic supports from faculty, clinicians, and transitional staff on our state-of-the-art campus. Our teachers and clinicians work closely together with intensive support services to ensure that students in our Founders Program build competence in independent living skills.
