Field Day Fun Filled Shrub Oak International School Campus with Laughter and Team Spirit

We celebrated summer with a splash—and plenty of excitement—during our annual Field Day at Shrub Oak International School. From inflatable bounce castles and giant water slides to outdoor games and team challenges, the day was packed with activities designed to promote teamwork, movement, and joy. Field Day is a beloved tradition on our campus, and this year’s event was a vibrant celebration of community and connection.

Each class transformed into its own team, proudly donning color-coded t-shirts and fun sunglasses and hats that brought a rainbow of energy to our school grounds. The visual display of team pride added a festive atmosphere, and students beamed with excitement as they joined classmates and staff in friendly competition. Field Day offered our students opportunities to engage in social interaction and sensory-rich play in a structured, supportive setting.

The giant soccer game was a favorite among many of our students. The foam/bubble dispenser was also popular. The bounce castle and slide was an enormous hit – literally enormous!  Nearby, the water slides and dunk tanks offered a refreshing escape from the summer sun. Students climbed, slid, and splashed with enthusiasm, many taking turns over and over, their faces lit up with pure enjoyment. Staff provided support at every station, encouraging participation, ensuring safety, and celebrating every success—whether it was a first slide down or a shared high five between teammates.

In addition to the inflatables, the field was alive with a variety of outdoor games and relays. Students had ample opportunity to move their bodies and collaborate with peers. Each activity was adapted to meet the needs of our students, with staff facilitating communication, offering sensory accommodations, and celebrating individual contributions. The games were structured to encourage participation at any level, with an emphasis on effort, sportsmanship, and having fun.

Throughout the day, team challenges brought out students’ sense of camaraderie and pride. Whether they were cheering on their classmates or helping one another, we saw strong examples of teamwork, communication, and kindness. These social-emotional learning moments are central to our mission and were on full display throughout the event. For many students, Field Day was more than just fun—it was a chance to practice turn-taking, build confidence, and experience joy in a shared setting.

At Shrub Oak International School, we believe that learning and growth happen everywhere—on slides, in games, and in moments of shared celebration. Field Day gave us all a chance to connect, play, and welcome summer in the best way possible—together.
