Mary Lavan has more than two decades of experience in the field of education and health promotion and brings significant expertise in communications and outreach to the Shrub Oak Admissions team.
Mary earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Binghamton University in New York where she also earned a certificate in Business. She then spent several years as an environmental advocate, before beginning her career in education at the March of Dimes. During her tenure at March of Dimes, Mary spearheaded the organizations’ efforts to obtain accreditation as a continuing education provider and led the development of professional education content, in print and online, that served to distinguish March of Dimes as a trusted source of evidence-based continuing education. Pursuing her passion for education, Mary joined the Shrub Oak team in 2019 shortly after the school opened its doors to students. As Director of Communication and Outreach, she takes great pride in helping families and students find their way to Shrub Oak by showcasing all that the school has to offer through the development and dissemination of both print and online messaging. Mary is passionate about helping others and is thrilled to be part of the Shrub Oak team.
Personal:
In her free time, Mary enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors. She also is an avid tennis fan, and since tennis tournaments are in beautiful locations, often plans her vacations around them, having traveled to the Rome Open, Madrid Open, and Indian Wells. Above all, though, Mary enjoys spending time with her family, recognizing that every moment together is special.
