Salam Soliman, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist, researcher, and systems leader with more than two decades of experience serving children, families, and professionals in complex care environments.
She is the Director of Clinical Services and Research at Shrub Oak International School, where she leads a multidisciplinary team providing trauma-informed, developmentally grounded care to neurodiverse children, adolescents, and young adults. She also oversees all research activities at the school. A licensed clinical psychologist and certified school psychologist, Dr. Soliman has dedicated her career to transforming mental health systems through both clinical innovation and policy-informed practice.
In addition to her clinical leadership, Dr. Soliman has a strong background in research. Her doctoral dissertation, “A Validation and Extension of the Inventory of Parental Representations” (Pace University, 2006), focused on attachment-related constructs in young adults. She has contributed significantly to the design and implementation of a randomized controlled trial (RCT), published in peer-reviewed journals, and serves as a reviewer for scholarly publications in psychology. Her research reflects a deep commitment to integrating evidence into practice, particularly in work with underserved and neurodiverse populations.
Prior to joining Shrub Oak, Dr. Soliman served as Director and Principal Investigator for the Center for Prevention and Early Trauma Treatment at Changent, a Category II National Child Traumatic Stress Network Center. In that role, she oversaw the development, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based trainings and consultation services across the United States.
Her work has spanned hospitals, courts, schools, universities, and community-based programs both nationally and internationally. In 2023, she was invited by the Singapore Ministry of Health to serve as a Visiting Expert in pediatrics, women’s mental health, and psychosocial trauma.
Dr. Soliman has held academic and leadership roles including Adjunct Professor at Pace University and Director of Counseling Services at NYU Abu Dhabi. She continues to consult with organizations such as Zero to Three, the Alliance for Infant Mental Health, MIECHV, Louisiana State University, and KKH Hospital in Singapore. She also serves on the faculty of the Reflective Supervision Collaborative. Her professional focus includes disrupted attachment, early trauma, neurodevelopmental diversity, equity in systems of care, and reflective supervision.
Personal
Outside of work, Salam is a proud immigrant, wife, and mother of three who finds joy in community, culture, and connection. She loves exploring new cuisines, listening to a wide variety of music, and getting lost in a good book-especially historical fiction. Whether sharing a meal, traveling with family, or taking a quiet walk with a book in hand, Salam treasures the everyday moments that bring meaning and warmth to life.
