Students Shine During Professional Tour at Shrub Oak International School

Shrub Oak International School recently welcomed visitors to campus for a large group professional tour, and our students played an important role in making the experience both warm and memorable. Throughout the tour, students demonstrated hospitality, communication, and confidence as they helped support the event in meaningful ways. From preparing beverages at The Kind Cup to distributing marketing materials and sharing their communication skills with guests, students made a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

At The Kind Cup, a student created fun coffees and sodas for visitors, adding a personal and engaging touch to the tour experience. This student’s work behind the counter showed not only enthusiasm, but also a growing sense of independence and pride in his abilities. Opportunities like this allow students to practice real-world skills in an authentic setting while contributing to the life of the campus community. As guests visited The Kind Cup, they were greeted by student who was eager to help and excited to be involved.

In addition to assisting with refreshments, a student also helped distribute marketing materials during the tour. This gave students another opportunity to interact directly with visitors and contribute to an event that showcased the Shrub Oak campus and community. This student’s participation helped the day run smoothly and reflected the collaborative spirit that is such an important part of life at Shrub Oak.

One of the most memorable parts of the tour was the way students connected with visitors on a personal level. Their kindness and positive energy made guests smile and helped create a welcoming atmosphere across campus. Moments like these can have a powerful impact, because they allow visitors to see the heart of the Shrub Oak community firsthand. The students were not simply assisting with tasks; they were helping tell the story of who we are through their actions, interactions, and genuine enthusiasm.

One of our students also shared some of her fluency in American Sign Language during the tour, teaching visitors ASL and creating a fun, interactive experience. This added another meaningful layer to the day, highlighting communication in action and giving guests a chance to learn directly from students. It was a wonderful example of how students at Shrub Oak can lead, teach, and connect with others in ways that are both authentic and memorable. These exchanges brought smiles to visitors and underscored the value of creating spaces where different forms of communication are recognized and celebrated.

The professional tour was a proud moment for the Shrub Oak International School community, and the students were a major reason for its success. Their efforts at The Kind Cup, their help with materials, and their willingness to engage with visitors helped make the day special. Most of all, their participation reflected the many strengths they bring to campus each day. By stepping into these roles, students showed that they are capable, thoughtful, and eager to contribute. Their presence helped transform the tour into an experience that was not only informative, but also personal, joyful, and unforgettable.
