Families, staff, and students came together on June 18 for Shrub Oak International School’s 2026 Spring Music Showcase and Art Gallery, a day dedicated to creativity, self-expression, and the accomplishments of our students. The event highlighted the many ways music and art help students discover their voices and share their talents with the community. As noted in the showcase program, “Music and art possess a universal power to heal, inspire connection, and celebrate our shared humanity.”
Before the performances began, guests had the opportunity to explore the student art gallery located in the Hub. The exhibit, which was a space theme with planets, stars, and even E.T., featured artwork created throughout the year and gave students the chance to proudly display their creativity. Families were also invited to take home their students’ artwork at the conclusion of the event.
The afternoon opened with introductions and a special Showcase 2026 video featuring Shrub Oak music students. From there, the audience enjoyed a diverse lineup of performances that reflected the unique interests and talents of the students.
Group performances energized the audience with spirited renditions of “Kung Fu Fighting” and “Eye of the Tiger.” . Students also performed “Titanium,” while another student performed Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.”
Several students took center stage with solo performances that showcased their individuality and confidence. Songs included “I Believe,” the traditional English folk song “Autumn Comes,” “Butterfly Fly Away,” “Let Somebody Go,” “Abracadabra,” “When I See You” by Fantasia, “Your Ways Better,” and an ASL rendition of “Pink.”
One of the afternoon’s highlights came from students in the Founders Program, who performed “ABC Easy as 123” and “Zoo” with support from Diploma and Skills & Achievement students. Their performance reflected the collaborative spirit that defines Shrub Oak and demonstrated how students across programs support and celebrate one another.
The Spring Showcase provided much more than entertainment. It offered students opportunities to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and share their accomplishments with family and friends. Through music, art, and collaboration, the event celebrated the creativity, individuality, and joy that make the Shrub Oak community so special. The applause, smiles, and proud moments throughout the afternoon served as a reminder that every student has a voice worth celebrating.
